Parachute Simulator
This parachute simulator is used by Air Force soldiers to practice their skydiving abilities before exiting a real plane.
Decreases training costs
Logs and data increases the training's effectiveness.
2016
FTK Hardware Integration
Students updated the layout of the go karting track and fully integrated a go kart for physical control of the simulation and use of a virtual reality headset.
2015
GRILL Facility Design
Students leveraged architect renderings of a new facility design and generated a textured 3D model to illustrate the plan for the space. This was accomplished using Unity.
Eldora Speedway Environment
Students created a virtual environment to allow patrons of Eldora Speedway to view seating options and facility layout. The goal for this effort was to allow Eldora to host the virtual environment capability on their website so that patrons could explore the facility in advance of arriving on site. This virtual environment was build using the Unity engine.
USAFSAM IVAC
Students collaborated with mentors to build an instructional training simulation tool to train USAFSAM critical care air transport (CCAT) students on the MedSystem III © IV pump. The goals were to use game-based technology to create an interactive simulation of the equipment and to apply educational techniques to teach and assess students’ proficiency on the equipment. This training simulation tool was developed in Unity and the scripting language used was C#.
FIRE EVAC Simulation
Students evaluated four game engines to select a cost effective and usable engine for a capstone project for a high school modeling and simulation survey course. They built a school with a staircase, script fire, smoke, alarm sounds, and non-player characters evacuating from the facility. Students learned about the capabilities and feasibility of each of the game engines through their hands-on evaluation.
FTK 3D Modeling
Students updated the layout of the go karting track and fully integrated a go kart for physical control of the simulation and use of a virtual reality headset.
