FLARE
The purpose of the Firefighting and Learning in Augmented Reality Environments (FLARE) simulator was to create an mixed reality (MR) simulation to train airmen to use a Halon fire extinguisher on aircraft engine fires.
Summary
The students created a more immersive, inexpensive, and low risk training experience using a Halon fire extinguisher and a fire on an aircraft to arm future airmen with the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to be successful in the event a fire hazard occurs.
