Parachute Simulator
The Parachute Simulator (ParaSim) was developed to create an environment that could simulate a variety of malfunctions that could take place during a landing.
Summary
The emergency simulator provided instructors with the ability to see the student's perspective and add malfunctions or change various conditions. By utilizing commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) technology the system is designed to be flexible and updated easily.
Outcomes and Additional Information
The ParaSim was developed in conjunction with the 336th Training Squadron. The emergency simulator replicates numerous malfunction while providing a robust, flexible, and cost effective simulator.
The simulator utilizes the virtual reality (VR) and computer gaming technology. Instructors can see the student's perspective and add malfunctions or change various conditions.
